My passion for art led me down the commercial road of Graphic Design.
For over 30 years I have created for corporates, printers, government, newspapers and magazine publishers... becoming the Art Director of Australian Home Beautiful Magazine and later a judge for 2 years running at Top Designs for the Melbourne Museum.
As many other mothers I put my own personal passions on hold while I committed to working and raising my girls as a single mother.
In my early childhood I was inspired to draw by my brother who often doodled drawing cartoon figures. In secondary school I had to make the transition from a very conventional academic Catholic girls school to Swinbure in order to persue my passion, which later became my career. In those days Graphic Design involved imagination, hand drawing, ink rotering pens, yoken markers and compling print-ready art on a drawing board. Of course, this later changed to designing and producing art on computers, with all the plug-ins, filters and fonts you can imagine.
Fast forward to now, my girls are becoming young ladies and I can now turn my attention back to my first love... painting. Still working full time, I steal time to start dipping my foot in again in the evenings and weekends. Nervously I follow my instint to do topical 2D/3D pieces for the Linden Postcard artshow. Every since school Ive enjoyed mixing the mediums.
Living in the beautiful eastern suburbs of Melbourne I am inspired by my surroundings, my girls and beautiful dog Zarla... a rough collie. My regular getaways to the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, are also a firm inspiration to me where the muted silver greens and soft sand colours get under my skin and inspire me to also create contempory art.
Life's exciting! Lets see where it leads....
