ARTIST NOTES: Behold! This vibrant image was captured in the heart of Melbourne at the splendid St. Collins Lane Department Store, using the legendary Leica Q2 camera. The mesmerising complementary colours of the picture add a surreal touch to the abstract artistry on display. The play of music can be sensed in the repetitive patterns of the piano keyboards, the symphonic strings, and the mesmerising cylinders shaped like glass tubes, evoking the harmonious melody of an orchestra. This picture is truly a masterpiece that stimulates both the senses and the imagination.

Artist: Oliver Altermatt

Born in Switzerland, Oliver Altermatt has been fascinated by the art of photography ever since he was able to borrow his fathers polaroid.

His first camera, a Yashica  was gifted to him at the age of 12. A dark room followed soon after and many happy hours were spent developing and printing black and white images.

The start of the digital world was the end of Oliver’s commitment to this great hobby. His interests were re-kindled some years later what inspired him to enrol in the Advanced Diploma of Photography at PSC (Photography Studies College, Melbourne), and presently studying at RMIT BFA.

Apart from Street Photography, Oliver is very passionate about portraits, -Art Nude, - Street and Social Documentary photography.

The project "Faces Down Under", a portrait series of Aboriginals from Australia along the East, North and West coast was successfully exhibited at Photo Schweiz in February 2022.

The solo exhibition is opened on the 2nd of September in Olten, Switzerland. A selection of work such as Street, Portraits and Les baigneuses dans l'océan was on display.
